Brazil: Where Coffee is More Than Just a Drink

Brazil is more than just a country—it’s an experience. The largest and most diverse nation in South America, Brazil stretches from the Amazon rainforest in the north to the rolling vineyards and breathtaking Iguaçu Falls in the south. But if there’s one thing that truly defines Brazil on a global scale, it’s coffee.

The Coffee Capital of the World

Brazil has held the title of the world’s largest coffee producer for over 150 years. Thanks to its rich soil, ideal climate, and vast coffee plantations, the country supplies nearly one-third of the world’s coffee—making it the beating heart of global coffee culture.

Brazil’s coffee industry is predominantly focused on Arabica beans, which account for around 80% of its production. However, unlike high-altitude Arabica varieties from places like Ethiopia or Colombia, most Brazilian coffee is grown at or below 1,000 meters above sea level. This gives it a distinctive character:

Low acidity – A smoother, more approachable taste.
Full body – A rich, velvety texture.
Naturally sweet – With deep notes of chocolate, nuts, and caramel.

Instead of the bright, citrusy notes found in high-altitude coffees, Brazilian beans deliver a creamy, well-rounded profile, making them an excellent choice for espresso-based drinks.

From a Stolen Coffee Plant to a Global Powerhouse

Coffee didn’t naturally grow in Brazil—it was smuggled in. In 1727, Portuguese Lieutenant Colonel Francisco de Mello Palheta was sent on a secret mission to French Guiana to obtain coffee plants. The story goes that he charmed the governor’s wife, who secretly gifted him coffee seeds before he left. And just like that, Brazil’s coffee empire was born.

By the 1840s, Brazil wasn’t just growing coffee—it was dominating the global market. Fast forward to today, and Brazil remains the world’s leading coffee exporter, supplying top-quality beans to roasters and cafés worldwide.

Where Brazil’s Finest Coffee is Grown

Brazil has 26 states, and nearly half of them produce coffee. However, the finest beans come from the southeastern region—particularly Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, and São Paulo.

At Redman Tbilisi, we source our coffee from Fazenda Paraíso, one of Brazil’s top farms, located in the São Paulo region. This family-run estate sits at 950 meters above sea level, offering the perfect balance of climate, humidity, and temperature for growing premium-quality coffee.

Natural & pulped natural processing – Enhancing the beans’ natural sweetness.
State-of-the-art equipment – Ensuring consistency in every batch.
Sustainability & quality focus – A commitment to excellence from farm to cup.
